What is bandaging?
Bandaging is the treatment of edema and wounds with compression bandages, also known as bandaging. The treatment can also be used as a supplement to manual lymph drainage or wound care. Pressure is applied to the relevant part of the body by applying bandages under tension. As a result, the volume decreases, wound healing is stimulated and joints are supported and fixed. A special form of bandages is the so-called ambulatory compression therapy, a combination of bandages and muscle pump training. The muscle pump then optimizes the operation of the bandages to promote a decrease in volume.
What can we handle?
Bandaging can be used for:
venous edema
lymphedema
ulcer cruris venosum (open leg)
The purpose of bandaging is to reduce edema and / or improve wound healing.
The treatment
For the first treatment you will receive an intake interview and photos will be made. These will be used to map the results of the treatments. Measurements will also be made to determine the effect of the treatments over time. The treatment starts with the application of a thin cotton tube dressing. This protects the skin against irritation. Padding material is then applied as cotton wool or pads to protect the skin and to influence the pressure of the bandages. Finally the bandages follow. Often two bandages are placed over each other in the opposite direction to optimize the pressure distribution. Depending on the indication and personal circumstances, we will choose the most suitable bandages for you.
Preparations
Wear comfortable clothing to facilitate undressing and dressing.
We advise you to take your shoes into account, too narrow footwear may no longer fit after bandaging.
Make sure your skin is clean. Do not use body cream on the day of treatment.
